Special Weather Statement issued May 29 at 4:50PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ Some showers and thunderstorms will move across much of the region, from west to east, through this evening. Some of the heavier showers or thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally gusty winds to around 40 mph and small hail. Local downpours can also occur resulting in some brief minor flooding. Any heavier showers and thunderstorms are expected to weaken or move offshore late this evening.

Delaware Bay waters south of East Point NJ to Slaughter Beach DE... At 454 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located near Fourteen Foot Bank Light, moving northeast at 20 knots. Locations impacted include... Fortesque Beach, Fourteen Foot Bank Light, Slaughter Beach, East Point, Bowers Beach, Miah Maull Light, Brandywine Shoal Light, and Cross Ledge Light. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
